Guidelines
for Highly Usable, Complex Systems
There are many
guidelines available for usability and human-centered design.
It is the role of the Human Factors specialist to select those most
applicable to the task at hand and to judiciously apply them-not
all guidelines fit all systems. The guidelines presented in
this module were selected as most applicable to FAA systems and
are adapted from the work of Charles E. Billings.
- Accountable
- Must
inform user of its actions.
- Must
be able to explain actions to user upon request.
- Subordinate
- Must

- Must
be able to be countermanded in those situations.

needs.
