System Design and Usability Assessment Tools

  • System Prototypes - As system prototypes are developed, they can and should be used for usability assessments.  Prototypes can range in complexity and completeness from physical mock-ups, to partial/sub-system builds, to a fully functioning system. Depending on the degree of completeness, prototypes can be used to begin data collection on system effectiveness and efficiency metrics.  Data collections should be performed on maintenance tasks as well as operational tasks.
