Task Analysis Tools Used Throughout Development

  • Human Error Analysis (HEA) - Human error analysis, in a system context, is the assessment of each human-machine interface point, decision, or action for the potential for human error to adversely impact system performance or  safety of the system and its users.  There are a variety of methodologies for conducting these analyses.  Many of these separate human error into categories such as errors of omission or commission for analysis purposes. Errors of omission include not performing a procedure, skipping a step in a procedure, or not responding to an alarm, alert, or other stimulus. Errors of commission include performing a wrong action or performing it in an incorrect way. After potential errors are identified and analyzed, the system can be designed to mitigate the effects of such error and prohibit or block execution.
