Modern Decision Making

In the more modern approach, the assumptions in human decision making are:

  • People do not make decisions like a computer, that is decisions are made non- analytically,
  • People use experience to identify real-world patterns, which form the basis for making a decision, and
  • Not all alternatives are fully considered.
People make decisions based on previous experience. An example is firefighters using the most effective approach to fighting different types of fires.
