Vertical Flight

Vertical flight human factors is a relative new research domain. Research in this area is meant to identify specific human factors associated with helicopter flight regimes within the National Airspace System. Such issues include certification and regulation of civilian flights with night-vision-goggles devices, simultaneous non-interfering operations, and implications of tiltrotor controls. Other current research requirements include head-up displays for general aviation rotorcraft, low speed helicopter/power lift displays, and vertical flight IFR approach lighting requirements.
