Visual Display - Applications
Visual
information displays are used in many different applications, encompassing
highway signs, airport information displays, aircraft control panels,
and computer monitors displaying complex data analyses.
Visual
displays are an important part of human-machine systems. With their
associated input devices, they are the primary means by which humans
and machines communicate.
Visual
displays convey information through the human visual sense. Key
human factors issues that must be considered when designing visual
displays include: use of color, brightness, contrast, and information
presentation by symbols or text.
Understanding
the visual system's fundamental properties and limits and how the
visual system works in conjunction with human cognition will enable
the selection and arrangement of appropriate visual elements for effective visual displays.
