Telecommunications & Remote Training

Advances in telecommunications technologies have given rise to remote or distance training. This has created the "Electronic Classroom" with multiple means by which to deliver instruction.

  • Video Teletraining (VTT) Systems - Depending upon the training course, learners are no longer required to be in the same physical location with the instructor or with other learners. Instruction can be delivered in standalone mode via internet connection, internet download, or CD-ROM. Instruction can be delivered independently to students or instructors and students can be linked by telecommunications or video teletraining (VTT) systems.
  • Video Teleconferencing - While the instructor can be many miles distant, VTT requires students to attend class at a specific VTT location. VTT can be one-way or two-way transmission, depending upon the technology used. Optimally, two-way is used to support interactive dialogue. Desktop video tele-conferencing technology is advancing toward enabling students to "attend" class with two-way video and communications at their desks at work or at home, saving travel costs and time away from work.
