Human Factors Icon

Human Factors Model:  Introduces a Human-System Interaction Model along with a comparison of human and machine strengths and limitations.  Fitt's classic human-machine comparison is also provided.  In addition, the basics of human variance that must be considered in product or system design are presented, using anthropometrics and biomechanics as examples. [30 minutes]

Usability Icon Usability:  Presents human-centered design principles and steps that are key to developing highly "usable" systems.  Usability assessment criteria and assessment methods and tools are briefly introduced, as well as screen design tools.  [60 minutes]
Visual Displays Icon Visual Displays:  Explains Human Factors considerations in visual display design. The module focuses on 6 areas: color, symbols, graphs, text, information density and complexity, and environmental issues. [60 minutes]
