Summary

In this module, the topic of controls was introduced and some of the basic human factors principles related to control design were presented. In addition, the concept of control-display compatibility was discussed in relation to reaction time, error, training time, and user satisfaction. Transfer effects in control design were also introduced. The last portion of the module covered automated controls and their impact. By completing this module, you should have a grasp of the importance of attending to the user and the user's experience in control-display design. Also, you should have an appreciation of the complexities of control automation.
